In all agreements that must be at least two sides and the agreement must be equitable for all involved. It's difficult for any agreement to be equitable for all those involved and therefore these agreements are doomed to fail if the stakes are too high. When stakes are this high there has to be a victor and a loser. The loser must surrender and hope that the victor is merciful. Unfortunately that's the world we live in, and that's how it works. When the above scenario are not played according to mother nature's "rules" the conflict goes on indefinitely until there is a victor and a loser (it doesn't really matter which side wins as long as there is a clear winner and a surrendering loser.)
